No Free medical facilities for freedom fighters relatives till now

The kin and relatives of the freedom fighters were not getting free medical facilities even when state government had already issued several directions in this regard. The above facts were brought under the notice of the Information Commissioner, Hafiz Usman, through an appeal under Right To Information (RTI) Act.

Usman, claimed to have not just constituted a probe into the matter but also wrote a letter to the state government directing them to take stern action against the medical department officials who were not forwarding the medical aid to the kin of freedom fighters despite of a government order already issued in this regard.

Conforming about the above move, Hafiz Usman said that a resident of Moradabad, whose father was a freedom fighter, filed a case in his court against the doctors of community health centre in Moradabad, as well as doctors of other government hospitals in the district. The complainant alleged that he was a son of freedom fighter and as per the government order, he should get free medial treatment but he was surprised when the doctors refused to forward the same when he went for treatment.

The complainant also said that he made all attempts to get medical aid but when the doctors out rightly refused him, saying that he was not entitled for it, he filed an application under the RTI Act with additional director (medical and health) in Moradabad division, and sought a reply on the said government order. However, he was running from pillar to post but failed to get any reply under the RTI, hence, he decided to lodge an appeal with the Information Commissioner.

Hafiz Usman, said that when he gone through the case, he found the allegations true so he wrote a letter to divisional commissioner of Moradabad, to enquire the matter and gave a report in this regard within a month. Usman said that he also wrote a letter to state government with a request that the Health Department should take some corrective measures besides action against the guilty in case the enquiry showed that the doctors were not making compliance of the government orders.
