Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will share the dais with rebel Bahujan Samaj party leader RK Chaudhary in the latter’s rally lucknow on July 26.
After resigning from the BSP, Chaudhary is on the look out for a viable political alternative and has organized the rally on the occasion of the birth anniversary of `Shahuji Maharaj’ - a Kurmi and icon of social change.
Addressing mediapersons on Friday, Chaudhary said that the Nitish Kumar has consented to participating in the rally as chief guest. The rally will be held under the banner of BS 4 (Bahujan Shoshit Samaj Sangharsh Samiti).
On his part, desperate for a foothold in UP, Nitish Kumar has held five rallies in the state in the last three months after taking over as national chief of Janata Dal (United) in April. The Bihar CM is scheduled to address a rally at Phulpur (Allahabad) on July 16.
Accusing Mayawati of destroying the movement for social change started by Kanshiram, Chaudhary said, “Mayawati has changed the character and direction of the movement. The BSP, once a vehicle of social change, has now been captured by feudal elements and the upper castes.’’
Taking a dig, the Pasi leader said that the BSP now stood for ‘Brahman Samaj Party’ and Mayawati has become a tool in the hands of feudal and upper caste leaders. After the death of Kanshi Ram, Mayawati has either marginalized the committed workers trained by Kanshiram or they have been expelled from the party,” he alleged.
Choudhary alleged that people with criminal antecendents, property dealers, contractors and land mafia have captured the party. “This has resulted in deep seated resentment among the BSP cadre. There could be rebellion against her leadership soon and workers and leaders could resign en mass,” said Chaudhary.
