Acting Bihar governor Keshri Nath Tripathi said that floor test in the Bihar Assembly on February 20 will decide the fate of the Chief Minister and alleged that Nitish Kumar was putting pressure on him. Tripathi who was in Kanpur to attend a private function made above claims while talking to local media persons on Friday afternoon. Tripathi, who was also former Speaker of Uttar Pradesh State Assembly said that he was not concern with the statements of Janata Dal (united) leader Nitish Kumar.

‘You cannot change a CM overnight and Nitish wanted that he should be made the CM within 48 hours,’ the Bengal governor, who is holding the additional charge of Bihar, disclosed. ‘I have always worked in accordance with the Constitutional norms and ethics and no one can force me to do anything illegal,’ he further stated to the reporters.

In his attack on Nitish, Tripathi said that the JD(U) leader is very anxious to become the CM but it is not good for democracy. ‘let the assembly decide on February 20 as who will be the CM,’ he stated. The acting Bihar governor said Nitish staked claim to form the government before the Governor on February 9 and a decision was reached on February 11 on the pretext of Supreme Court’s judgement and legal advice to hold a floor test on February 20, the opening day of the budget session announced before the ongoing political crisis.’On February 20, just after the joint address by the governor, CM Jitan Ram Manjhi will seek trust vote for his government and thereafter voting would take place inside the assembly,’ he said.

‘Manjhi and Nitish both expressed that they have the majority in the Assembly, then it was my duty to decide it in the floor of the House,’ Tripathi said while question why Nitish can’t wait for two days and trying to put un-constitutional pressure on me when the budget session was announced earlier to start from February 20.
