The political war of posters and hoardings depicting respective leaders in divine incarnation continued in UP.
A new poster depicting Bihar CM Nitish Kumar as 'Bhagwan Narsingh’ appeared in Kushinagar on Sunday as Nitish is on a day-long visit to UP.
The poster, which has been circulated in social media, shows Nitish Kumar sitting on Shesh Nag and crushing liquor, land and mining mafia, corruption and misgovernance. The was brainchild of Abhishek Singh Patel, a former general secretary of youth wing of JD (U) and a native of Fazilnagar (Kushinagar).
Immediately after the poster went viral on the social media, the Janata Dal (United) distanced itself from it. State JD (U) chief Suresh Niranjan said that the poster has nothing to do with the party.
"We do not support such type of publicity and it could be an idea of any individual or mischief by our political rivals,’’ he said.
Earlier during a JD(U) rally at Varanasi on May 12, Nitish Kumar was projected as 'Arjun' and party leader Sharad Yadav as 'lord Krishna' fighting against the BJP government at the Centre and the Samajwadi Party in UP. The two were seen targetting the Modi government for infusing communalism in the country and creating anarchy in the society.
Earlier in April, after Keshav Prasad Maurya took over as state BJP chief, a poster in Varanasi depicted him as ‘lord Krishna’. The BJP too disassociated itself from the poster and Maurya issued a warning to the party cadre against such practice.
Earlier, a poster in Gorakhpur showed BJP's Yogi Adityanath riding a tiger, while Rahul Gandhi and other Opposition leaders were shown sitting on donkeys.
last month, a poster of BSP chief Mayawati depicting her as Goddess Kali slaying Union minister Smriti Irani with PM Narendra Modi shown in a miniature form had surfaced in Hathras. The poster was part of the tableau taken out in Sadabad town of Hathras during Ambedkar Shobha Yatra to mark his 125th birth anniversary.
