Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has tasked the Nigrani Samitis with starting a special extensive campaign of door-to-door screening of villages to identify children with symptoms like fever, cough and providing them with medicine kits from June 26.
The chief minister was in Ballia on Friday to take stock of the implementation of government schemes at the grassroots level. “The children have been divided into four groups — 0-1 years, 1-5 years, 5-12 years and 12-18 years. Under the campaign, the Nigrani Samitis will provide medicine kits to these children accordingly,” the CM said while addressing mediapersons.
Those found with fever or cough-like symptoms will be examined by the rapid response teams (RRTs), if need be.
“After successfully controlling the second wave of COVID-19, we are preparing for the probable third wave. Although there is no need to panic, caution is necessary. The current season invites all kinds of diseases like dengue, chikungunya, malaria and encephalitis among others. Considering the sensitivity of the area, the state government has started preparations in this regard, be it cleanliness, sanitisation, fogging or aggressive vaccination,” he said.
The chief minister also said that vaccination was going on successfully in the state. Till now, the state has administered more than 2.46 crore doses to people.
“In Ballia, as many as 2.64 lakh people have taken the vaccine with minimum wastage. We are giving vaccine cover to over 4 lakh people in the state on a daily basis. From June 21, the state will start administering around 6 lakhs doses a day while from July, the target is to give at least 10 to 12 lakh doses per day. Vaccination will also take place in the village panchayat ghars,” he said.
The CM also said that the poor would get ration twice in a month for June, July and August, as the state government would also be distributing 5 kg of ration for three months along with PMGKY.
Reiterating the resolve to protect the farmers, the CM said that even during the Covid period, wheat procurement from the farmers continued smoothly. “Last year, around 48,000 MT of wheat was procured in Ballia but this time, more than 85,000 MT of wheat has been procured. The state has set a new record of wheat procurement in the ongoing season,” he added.
After the Gorakhpur visit on Thursday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached Ballia where he inspected the District Hospital. The CM inquired about the well-being of patients in the Covid and non-Covid wards. He also took stock of the arrangements at the vaccination centres and Covid care centres.
