New secretariat to be named as 'Mukhamantri Karyalaya':CM

Refusing to accept the suggestion of Governor Ram Naik, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said the new secretariat building which is under construction, would be named as ‘Mukhamantri Karyalaya’.

Talking to reporters after the cabinet meeting Chief Minister said he had received the suggestion from the Governor but as it would house the CM office hence its name would be Mukhamantri Karyalaya.

The Governor Ram Naik had earlier suggested that the building should be named as `Mantralaya’. He had written a letter to CM saying that the words like secretariat reflects British mentality. “This building can also be called Sachivalaya but Mantralaya seems to be a better word as office of Chief Minister is proposed in that building, Naik said in his letter.

Chief Minister said there should not be any fuss about naming of a building. As this building will house Chief Minister’s office it should be known as Mukhya Mantri Karyala (CM’s office),” he said.

The multi-storied new secretriat building which is under construction will house the Chief Minister and the state chief secretary offices along with offices of other prominent departments is under construction at Darulshafa. The new building is likely to be completed by October next year.
