With an aim to impart quality education to the students in state-run schools Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that serious efforts should be made to introduce NCERT syllabus in the government schools immediately.
"Government is seriously trying to improve quality of education at the secondary and primary level and for that NCERT syllabus would be introduced from the next academic session,” Yogi said during a discussion on Road Map for transforming School education, State of Uttar Pradesh, here on Wednesday.
CM said that if UP students adopt NCERT syllabus this will give them an edge to compete in all India level. More CBSE centres should be opened across the state and efforts should be made to reduce weight of school bags, he said.
He said this is a matter of concern that enrollment of students in the private schools is on the rise while the drop out rate in government schools is going up. The time has come to arrest this trend because this is a reflection of parents’ loss of trust with the government schools, he said.
"The state government has decided to incorporate the good and transparent schemes of other states. Officials have been asked to carry out a study and come out with their suggestions at the earliest,” he said.
He said there would be a minimum intelligence quotient which all the students should have. This is a common sight that primary students in government schools cannot read simple words in Hindi and English. There should be a bench mark which all the students should achieve.
"We are committed to bring a revolutionary change in the teaching standard in schools. This can be ensured if teachers regularly attend schools and take classes. We will introduce technology to bring change in primary education system,” he said.
CM even suggested that al schools should have computers and those schools which do not have electricity should have solar panels so that these computers work. In those schools where strength is very less these should be closed and amalgamated with neighbouring school.
