With Urban local Bodies poll round the corner, intemperate language used by politicians especially against their rivals has once again become the flavour of the season. Rajya Rajya Sabha member and senior Samajwadi Party leader Naresh Agarwal on Monday targeted Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath over ‘anti-Romeo’ squads saying that the monk-politician would not know ‘what love is’.

Another SP leader, Azam Khan while campaigning for party candidate for Chairman of Rampur nagar palika parishad on Monday, threatened District Magistrate of Ramput Shiv Sahay Awasthi of dire consequences and accused him of being an RSS agent.

Targeting the young IAS officer at Rampur, Khan said, “All those officers who are close to retirement are free to do anything but young officers should care for their future as the BJP government will not be voted to power in 2022. The next Samajwadi Party government would hold all these officers accountable who were presently acting at the behest of the ruling BJP.’’

The Yogi government has ordered a probe into alleged irregularities by Khan in the construction of Jauhar University spread in 2,000 acres. Khan, who was Urban Development minister in previous SP government, is facing charges of encroaching on public land and buildings and construction of roads and buildings in the varsity with public money. Meanwhile in Hardoi, SP Rajya Sabha member Naresh Agarwal, while campaigning for party candidates for Urban local Bodies poll on Monday targeted Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. “A person who has not married cannot know what love is and who Romeo was. The government should not meddle in personal affairs of consenting adults. The youths will turn against the ruling BJP for these acts and vote them out,’’ said Agarwal. The SP leader said that BJP leaders, despite being in power, were not doing anything for their workers and instead sermonizing them on probity. “If leaders are only capable of doing right things, why would workers go to them IJ” he said, adding that a leader’s charter should only be to help workers at all costs and if need be, to bend rules and regulations in their favour. Agarwal told the gathering that when the SP returns to power he would ‘teach everyone who was victimising workers a lesson that they would remember it for the rest of their lives’.
