The Mathura police registered a case against four persons after two of them offered namaz at a local temple last Thursday and arrested one of the accused from Delhi on Monday.
Besides, to avert any communal flare-up, a heavy police force was deployed in Mathura.
As per reports, Faizal Khan and Chand Mohammed offered namaz around 12:30 pm at Nand Baba temple in Nandgaon area of Mathura, while two others, Alok Ratan and Nilesh Gupta, clicked their pictures and then uploaded the video on social media.
Two days later, after watching the video, some Hindu outfits objected to the act after which an FIR was registered on the basis of a complaint filed by Mukesh Goswami, Shivhari Goswami and Kanha on Sunday night.
The FIR stated that the four were members of a Delhi-based outfit called Khudai Khidmatgar and Khan and Mohammed offered namaz without permission from temple authorities or informing them.
“Their act has hurt the sentiments of Hindus. We have concern that these photographs do not get misused or if there is any foreign funding behind this incident. This should also be probed if this act was intended to stir communal tension,” read the FIR.
The accused were booked under sections 153-A, 295 and 505 of the Indian Penal Code and a Mathura police team arrested Khan from Jamia Nagar area of Delhi on Monday.
