Naik sent back file of Nominees for council seats

Published on:

Rejecting the nomination of five leaders for State legislative Council Governor Ram Naik returned the file back to government "as per the request of the government."

Governor while returning the file has expected that Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to send fresh names at the earliest so that a decision could be taken on vacant legislative council seats, a Raj Bhawan spokesman said in a statement here on Monday.

The Raj Bhawan letter to the CM sent along with the file also mention that even after several meetings between the governor and the CM, the government had not sent fresh names for the five vacant nominated members in the Upper House.

The Raj Bhawan had earlier rejected the five names sent by the Government which included politicians Kamlesh Pathak, Ranvijay Singh, Abdul Sarfraz Khan, Dr Rajpal Kashyap and builder Sanjay Seth as they do not qualify for becoming a member in either field of social service, music, art or any cultural sector.

However, the Governor had approved four names of  Sriram Singh Yadav, lilawati Kushawaha, Ram Vriksh Singh Yadav and Jitendra Yadav on July 2, 2015.

Nine council seats fell vacant on May 21, 2015
