Naik directs cops to search missing buffaloes

Published on:

After buffaloes, now the State police was on search of a dozen chickens stolen from a person in Rampur city on March 17 last. Interestingly, the move was made by the cops on the directives of State Governor, Ram Naik.

Police sources here confirmed that a dozen chickens of one Farahullah Khan of Bangla Azad Khan locality on Rampur were stolen on March 17last. Khan, who is  a local Samajwadi Party leader, tried to lodge a police case in this regard, but the cops refused to entertain him asking that how they would identify the chicken. The cops directed Khan, to make a search on his own.

Sources said that Khan met senior officers but when he get the same reply, he dispatched an email to the Governor on March 21, stating that if buffaloes of a minister Azam Khan could be traced within 36 hours then why police were refusing to entertain his complaint of theft of his chicken.

Sources said that the Governor is reported to have sent a letter to the Rampur police to trace the chicken with-in five days. Station House Officer (SHO) of Kotwali police station in Rampur, Harish Chandra Joshi disclosed to media persons in Rampur on Saturday that they were now making all out efforts to trace the chickens and raids were being conducted in this regard.

Rampur has been in the news after police went into tizzy as seven buffaloes were stolen from the farm house of cabinet minister Mohammad Azam Khan on January 31 last year but they managed to recover it within 36 hours. The main accused in the robbery, one Chunnan was recently arrested from Moradabad. This week again, nine buffaloes of BJP MlA from Aonla and deputy leader of the BJP in the UP assembly Dharampal Singh were stolen from his Bareilly farm house and an FIR was registered. Police has yet to trace the missing cattle.

Meanwhile, Congress flayed the above move of the police and accused the State machinery of exhausting their energy to appease the ministers, MlAs and other high-profile persons, instead of taking the law and order, as well as security of common man seriously. ``Samajwadi Party government had made mockery of the entire law enforcing agencies system by not making them accountable to facilitate safety and security of common man”, alleged Amarnath Agarwal, spokesman of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee. ``What one would expect from the force who are more serious to look after the stolen cattle of the high-profile politicians in the government”, asserted Agarwal, adding that on one hand, the police is taking no interest to work out sensational incidents like dacoity, loots, murders, rape, kidnapping etc, but on the other all out efforts have been made to recover and hand over the stolen cattle.

He said that it would be better that chief minister should form some Special Force to search the missing or stolen cattle of his Party leaders just on the foots-step of Special Task Force, which is formed to work out sensational organised crime cases in the State.
