Questioning the myopic political vision of the Congress, the state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party said on Tuesday that instead of raising plight of drought-hit people, the party was staging protest against the Narendra Modi Government, showing that its agitation was more political than of any real value.
“It is strange that the Congress staged protest against BJP-led National Democratic Alliance Government at the Centre, giving a tacit support to Akhilesh Yadav Government in Uttar Pradesh that has failed to provide relief to the people. In the last 10-year rule of the United Progressive Alliance, the Samajwadi Party had played the role of second fiddle and now the Congress is complimenting the SP Government,” BJP spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said in a statement issued here on Tuesday.
He said the Congress should have waited for at least one year to see whether Modi had failed to deliver or not. In last 100 days, the prices of petrol had come down by Rs 5.23 per litre while the GDP had gone up to 5.7 per cent in the first quarter of this fiscal, he pointed out.
“When the BJP is raising the issue of power outages, bad roads and poor law and order in UP, the Congress has come to the rescue of the Samajwadi Party Government. Instead of talking about lawlessness in the state, the Congress is talking about 100-day rule of Narendra Modi,” Pathak said.
Hitting out at the Akhilesh Yadav Government, Pathak said that mining was on the rise despite a ban by the High Court. He said illegal mining was going on with the connivance of district officials.
“This lawlessness has resulted in increase in incidents of crime against women. Rising incidents of gang-rape, considered to be revenge, indicate the extent to which lawlessness has percolated down to the village level,” the BJP state spokesman said.
Pathak said the situation had gone out of hands of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav because he was more interested in politics of appeasement which had proved detrimental for the state.
