Muzaffarnagar violence AIMPlB passes strong resolution against SP govt

The All India Muslim Personal law Board (AIMPlB) passed a strong resolution against Samajwadi Party (SP) led state government and Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Muzaffarnagar communal violence.

As expected, in Executive Committee meet of AIMPlB held on Sunday, members raised the issue of Muzaffarnagar violence and expressed disappointment over the 'Casual Attitude' of SP led state government in taking action to control the violence.

"The EC not only flayed BJP for spreading communal feelings in the state but also expressed strong disappointment over 'casual attitude' of state government for not controlling the violence on time, which led to massacre of innocent people," said Member, AIMPlB, SQR Ilyas after the meeting.

In the meeting, discussion over Muzaffarnagar violence continued for an hour and members raised number of points. Majority of members opined that if SP government would have taken action immediately then number of lives could have been saved.

Even the Congress led central government was not spared. The board said the central government should not have relied on state government and should have taken action on their level. But even centres role in controlling the violence was full of laxity and irregularity.

"The board observed that all that happened in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining districts was complete political game. With sometime left for the parliamentary elections, these riots were 'political riots' and nothing else," said Illyas.

The board also demanded to the central government to come up with Communal Violence Bill earliest possible. "The board passed a resolution that in the case of communal violence bill, the central government should not wait for next session but it should be passed through an ordinance," revealed Ilyas.

Whereas, after reviewing the Waqf bill amendment passed by the parliament, board expressed its disappointment on not bringing Waqf eviction bill which central government promised to bring separately. "For the same, board has asked the central government to draft and bring through ordinance without waiting for next parliamentary session," said Ilyas.
