The crime against fairer sex again witnessed a spurt, when a girl was raped and murdered in Fatehpur, a dalit woman was gang raped and looted in Bareilly, another one met similar fate in Jalaun, besides about half a dozen more cases reported from other districts.
In Fatehpur, a 17-year-old girl hailing from Mewatganj area of Jafarganj, went to collect fodder for her cattle on Wednesday evening but not returned home. Her family members launched a search for her and on Thursday, they found her body hanging with a tree. The circumstantial evidences suggested that she was raped and later murdered by some unknown person who hanged her body to make it a case of suicide. local police registered a case in this regard and efforts were made to nab the accused.
A 40-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly gang raped by ten persons who committed the crime after assaulting and overpowering her husband and son in the Cantonment area on Bareilly on Wednesday night. The accused also looted her belongings including ear rings before fleeing from the spot.
The incident took place when woman, along with her husband and son were returning from its field. They were overpowered by the accused hiding in a jungle. The accused tied the victim’s husband and son and later gang raped her. They also assaulted the family members after they objected the move. The medical report of the woman confirmed she was raped. Senior Superintendent of Police, J Ravindra Gaud said an FIR has been lodged against 10 persons in this connection. He said he has directed action against personnel of the Cantt police station, who allegedly did not take any action after getting information about the incident.
In Jalaun, 50-year-old Dalit woman hailing from Masgaya locality of Kotwalo Orai, claimed that she was returning home on a tempo from her parents house in laikpurwa hamlet of Eth, when one Ram Bhuwan, residing in the same locality, took the driver at gun point near Kalpi Bus Stand, on Wednesday night. She said that the accused forcibly pulled her out of the tempo, took her in a secluded place where she raped her. The accused also looted her gold ornaments and Rs 5000 in cash before fleeing from the spot. local police said to haveregistered a case in this regard and also arrested the accused on Thursday afternoon.
In Banda, one Ashok Kumar (20), a resident of Chaitani in Kalinzar locality had asked a local 8-year-old girl to purchase a Gukta pouch
and hand it over to him. However, as the girl entered her house to deliver it, the accused pulled her inside and raped her on Wednesday evening. A case was registered and efforts were made to nab the accused.
In Ferojababd, a police constable Manoj Kumar, posted at Nagla police outpost under Narkhi police station, reportedly went in the neighbouring house to collect water but later molested a 19-year-old daughter of the owner of the house. In a separate matter, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped inside the city zoo by an employee at Kanpur.
The girl, daughter of a woman labourer, was taken by the worker, Ramu, to a secluded place and raped, according to Superintendent of Police (West) Harish Chandra. The girl has been sent for medical examination and a hunt was on for Ramu. In Etawah, one Indrabala, a resident of Madhaiya Khayaliram, lodged a report with Kotwali police station, stating that she was returningfrom collectrate along with her 19-year-old daughter Poonam, when four occupants of Zylo (UP75l-2009), one of whom she identified as Rajmani aka Annu, had hit their rickshaw and as they fell down, the accused kidnapped her daughter. Reports said that local police immediately launched a hunt for the kidnappers so they abandoned the Zylo to ensure their safe escape.
