Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav was at his comative best at a rally at Bareilly on Wednesday and tore into Prime Minister Narendra Modi accusing him of lying and cheating people by making false promises during the last lok Sabha elections.
Yadav stressed that betrayal amounts to dishonesty and corruption. He also accused the PM of inflecting huge damage to the masses by banning high value currency notes.
"Modi Sahib, you have cheated people by lying and making false promises. The people will give you a befitting reply in the next elections. The people of UP may be poor and illiterate, but they are wise. There is no gap between words and deeds of the Samajwadi Party. Ram Manohar lohia believed that those who makes promise and fail to fulfil them are dishonest and corrupt,’’ said Yadav addressing the second mega rally at Bareilly.
"Mr Modi I want to caution you as you have to fight with the Samajwasdi Party. You made lofty promises but failed to fulfil them. You promised to give Rs 15 lakh to each poor man. If you can’t give that much, then give them at least Rs 5 lakh as you have completed half your tenure,’’ said Mulayam.
The SP chief said, ``The duty of the government is to help people by making their life easy and smooth not to create trouble for them.’’
"I am at my wits end to ascertain as to what is wrong with the Prime Minister. I had hoped that he would work for welfare of farmers, workers and youth. But he has done nothing except for dishingout bundle of lies. Modi also promised to give employment to jobless but did nothing. Never trust the BJP as it has surpassed all in the art of lying,’’ said the SP chief.
"The ban on high value notes has inflicted huge damage to the masses with 105 people having died so far and one women ending her life after failing to get money from the bank even after standing for hours in a queue. What was the need to ban currency. Even if it was needed, why was the announcement made by the PM at 8 pm. The government should have given six months to the people to prepare,‘’ said Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Accusing the PM of benefiting his close associates from the business world, the SP chief alleged, "So far, the PM has no answer to the quantum of black money in India, how much was recovered by the government and how much is with his friends. All those who have stashed black money are with Modi.’’
later focussing on UP Assembly polls, Mulayam Singh said, "Mr Modi you have to fight the SP in Assembly polls and I appeal to the people here to ensure BJP's defeat in all seats of Bareilly division. It’s not a question of SP, but the destiny of the entire nation is at stake.’’
He urged the people to vote for the SP in the next elections as his party was the only one `that workes for the people’ and reminded the crowd that the SP regime has fulfilled all promises made during the 2012 Assembly polls.
The impact of the cash crunch was visible on the rally with a sharp drop in the number of welcome gates and the number of posters banners and hoardings in Bareilly city. The last mega rally of the Samajwadi Party was held in Ghazipur on November 23.
