Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav attacked PM Narendra Modi and BSP chief Mayawati on Tuesday for sabotaging the efforts of the state government for inclusion of 17 Most backward castes in the list of Schedule Castes.
“Mayawati prefers to call her as Rsdalit ke beti’, but when in power she works for protecting and advancing the interests of the elites and capitalists. ‘Dalit ki beti’ has always worked against the Dalits and backwards and promoted the upper caste. It is up to the backwards and the Dalits to pay her back,’’ said the SP chief.
RsRsDuring my chief ministership, the UP government had proposed to the Center for including 17 MBCs in the SC category but the then Congress-led UPA government rejected it and they were ultimately thrown out of office. The present NDA government has the same stand on this issue and it will meet with the same fate,’’ said Mulayam Singh at the state office in lucknow addressing a meeting of the MBCs.
Exhorting the cadres to occupy power at the Centre, the SP chief said, “The Union government is behaving like a collector and treats the state government like lekhpal. So let us capture the office of ‘Collector’ after being the ‘lekhpal’ in lucknow,’’ said the SP chief.
Instructing the party workers and leaders to be more attentive and aware about changes in the country, the SP chief said now was the time to play an important role in the country. He also reminded the leaders that the party had fulfilled all promises made during the 2012 Assembly poll campaign. After addressing the meeting Mulayam Singh left for New Delhi.
Several other senior SP leaders and UP ministers including Shivpal Singh Yadav, Ram Govind Choudhury, Gayatri Prasad Prajapati and others also addressed the conference. SP government for a long time was fighting to include 17 Most Backward castes into the schedule caste since 2005.
