Showing annoyance over slow pace of development in Akhilesh Yadav Government national president of Samajwadi Party Mulayam Singh Yadav threw a hint that non-performing ministers could be dropped as “party was supreme”.
“This goes without saying that Government has initiated some very good development projects. But the pace of progress is very slow. When these projects will completeIJ When will I inaugurate them,” Yadav asked while laying the foundation stone of 302 km long Agra-lucknow expressway here on Sunday.
"I have no hesitation in saying that all the development projects are moving in a slow pace and there is no fix time of its completion. It seems CM has no control over his officials and ministers. Ministers are not doing their job efficiently," Yadav said as his son and Chief Minister sheepishly looked at him.
He even warned the UP ministers that party is supreme and they can be removed for slackness. "No one can remove me as I have been elected recently as the SP president, but the ministers can be sacked any time as party is the supreme,” he said.Yadav said that people would not accept such approach of government. They donot just appreciate launching of projects. They want culmination of schemes so that they can use them. “The work of all the projects is very slow and it should be accelerated so that people can avail their benefits," he said.
“What’s the problem with the governmentIJ It is majority government and there should not be problem in implementing schemes. Still no one is doing anything substantial,” he said. The SP leader was also annoyed with the Ministers, legislators and even the officers are ignoring their native villages. "If the ministers, legislators, IAS- IPS officers and others develop their native villages, the situation in the state would have been different," he said while asking the ministers, legislators and the officers to adopt at least two villages of their choice.
His barbs were pointed more towards politicians as he blamed them for lack of development in the state. "Except me, no other politician has done anything for the state. How can a minister or legislator can develop the state when he cannot develop his own village,” he asked and even named few ministers sitting in the dais for not doing anything for their villages despite being ministers.
“I will soon hold a meeting of ministers. The Chief Minister will give me date. That day I will ask the ministers what development schemes they have launched  in their respective departments. I am not going to spare them,” he said. Reiterating his support for UP minister Md Azam Khan he said that Rampur's development will become a model in the country."UP government has not given special favour to Rampur but the development work being carried out by Khan is an eye-opener," he said.
