Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav attacked the two national Parties, Congress and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), alleging that they were working hand-in-glove to stop the regional Parties `Third Front’ government at the Centre.
“BJP and Congress are hand in gloves. They do not want a Third front government at the Centre,” Yadav said at an election rally in Pratapgarh. The SP chief addressed a series of rallies in Pratapgarh and neighbouring Sultapur district on Sunday.Attacking BJP leader Narendra Modi, Yadav said that the Gujarat Chief Minister was a “liar” and was misleading the people by presenting ‘Gujarat Model’. “Unemployment is at its peak in Gujarat. lakhs of youths are unemployed. Since 2002, over 40 thousand farmers have committed suicide there and eight thousand villages of the state do not have drinking water supply,” he said. He said that as compared to UP petrol and diesel prices in Gujarat were 26 per cent and 20 per cent higher due to four per cent VAT on them.
“After we started exposing these data in public, Modi has started saying that some persons in his group have started spying for Mulayam Singh,” he said. Meanwhile in Amethi,  minister in Akhilesh Yadav’s government, Gayatri Prasad Prajapati, claimed that the Party is extending full support  to Congress and its vice president Rahul Gandhi  to ensure the defeat of BJP. “To ensure BJP’s defeat in Amethi, SP has decided to support Rahul Gandhi here,” UP mining minister Gayatri Prasad Prajapati told reporters at Amethi on Sunday. “In order to check communal forces spreading tentacles in the country, SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav has not fielded candidates from Amethi and Rae Bareli,” he added. The minister claimed there was no BJP wave in Amethi. Hitting out BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Prajapati said: “Modi has been criticising the father-son duo (Mulayam-Akhilesh) claiming lack of development in Uttar Pradesh. He talks about Gujarat model, but in reality he is playing in the hands of select corporates.”
