Even as Samajwadi Party national president Mulayam Singh Yadav appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his foreign policy, he alleged that the BJP ruled central government has ' copied' his cleanness drive introduced in Uttar Pradesh way back in 1990. "The Narendra Modi Government has copied the cleanness drive launched by my government way back in 1990. Indian will not become clean through this Swacch Bharat campaign unless Government seriously think about eradication of poverty,” Yadav said while addressing a function on laying the foundation of the Agra- lucknow Expressway here at on Sunday.
Modi government should know that poverty is real curse. India can become clean if bring people above poverty line,” he said. "I had started this cleanness drive way back in 1990 after becoming CM for the first time. But poverty became the hurdle in implementation of this programme," he said. He, however, supported the PM on his current foreign policy by visiting different countries. "India should make friendly ties with big nations and I think Modi is doing the right thing. But in the parliament I will ask the PM to give the details of his foreign visit and its outcome," he said. But he also criticised the Centre in failing to curb corruption and inflation. "People of the country are aware of every thing and they will not allow anyone to do a drama in front of them and doing nothing for the country," Yadav stated.
