Hitting out at BJP Samajwadi Party national president Mulayam Singh Yadav said that Bharatiya Janata Party leaders have ditched countrymen because they have not fulfilled promises they have made to the people during election.

“The BJP is interested only in triggering communal violence in the country and doing nothing for the general people. The leaders talked about price rise and corruption but when BJP came to power it did nothing to help the people. The Central government has failed to control price rise in the country,” Yadav said while addressing an election meeting in Mainpuri during an election rally.

The SP president said in contrast to this Akhilesh Yadav government has fulfilled all the promises made during 2012 assembly election. “We do what we say and do not fool the people like the BJP leaders,” he said. This was the first election rally of Yadav in Mainpuri. “Since BJP has come to power at Centre communal tension in the state has gone up. This is because BJP wants to thrive on dividing people on communal lines. They use relion to gain votes in elections. They did it during lok sabha elections and want to do the same in bye-election,” Yadav said.

“The Samajwadi Party is the true saviour of Muslims. It had controlled riots in record time in western UP. People know if Government had not acted in time situation in Muzaffarnagar would have been very bad,” Mulayam Singh Yadav said.

Yadav will campaign in Mainpuri for the next two days as it is considered as party bastion. leaders say prestige of the party is at stake to retain the seat. Grandson of the SP president Tej Pratap Singh is in a direct fight against the BJP candidate Prem Shakya as neither the Congress nor Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP)w are contesting the lok Sabha bypoll. Yadav, launched his campaign for the Mainpuri seat which he had left after being elected from Mainpuri and Azamgarh. Yadav has retained Azamgarh.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav would be campaigning in Mainpuri on September 10 while senior UP minister Shivpal Singh Yadav is camping in Mainpuri for past one week.SP candidate Tej Pratap is presently the block pramukh of Saifai, the native village of Mulayam Singh Yadav and the first political leader from the third generation of the Yadav clan.
