Mulayam blames BJP for communal violence

Continuing with his attack on BJP Samajwadi Party national president Mulayam Singh Yadav said that Bharatiya Janata Party was using religion to communalise the peaceful atmosphere of the state and polarise the bye-elections.

“This party has no faith in democratic system. The leaders do not want communal harmony in the state. The BJP wants to polarise the society on religious lines for political gain,” Yadav said while addressing a public rally at the Ramlila ground in Mainpuri on Monday.

“The BJP leaders excel in telling lies and spreading rumours. They promised dueing elections that they will generate more employment, end corruption, bring back black money and control inflation. Nothing has happened in last 100 days of Modi raj, The truth is prices of essential commodities have sky rocketed forcing people to bear the brunt,” Yadav said.

“The BJP raked up the Gujarat model during its lok Sabha poll campaign but now none of the BJP leaders even mention that model. Because they know power supply in that state is pathetic and the region is facing scarcity of drinking water,” he said.

Mainpuri is to witness a direct fight between SP’s Tej Pratap Singh Yadav, grand nephew and BJP Prem Singh Shakya. Mulayam had vacated Mainpuri seat for Azamgarh after he won both the seats in the last lok Sabha elections. The bye-election to the  seat is on September 13.

The SP chief said that the results of the bye-elections - 11 Assembly and one parliamentary seat - will have a bearing on state politics. “If we win these elections, it will mean that Samajwadi Party will form government in the future,” he said.

Sending a message that he is still connected to Mainpuri, Mulayam reminded people that he left it for Azamgarh only because he trusts people of Mainpuri.

Yadav addressed two election meetings on Sunday in Mainpuri and 3 on Monday. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will address meetings on September 10.
