Putting Ministers in the Akhilesh Yadav Government on notice Samajwadi Party national president Mulayam Singh Yadav said that if any party candidate suffers defeat in their respective constituencies they would be held responsible and action would be taken against them.
"You are ministers in the Government. You are made minister because you have a respect in your constituencies. Use your influence to ensure victory of Samajwadi Party candidates in the lok Sabha elections. If a candidate loses election you will be held responsible for this," Yadav told ministers in a meeting held here on Wednesday.
Yadav issued stern warning to ministers in presence of his son and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. "It is a do or die battle for the party in this elections. If Samajwadi Party does well we would be able to call the shots in formation of next government. For this all the workers and ministers will have to work in tandem," he said.
All the ministers in the Akhilesh Yadav Government were present in the meeting and listened to what Yadav Sr said in full attention. The meeting continued for almost 2 hours in which ministers were asked to air their problems if any. None of the ministers had any complaint to offer.
"The Akhilesh Yadav Government has taken some historical decisions. Some of the decisions are being copied by other state Governments. Use your network to spread this message. Do not stay put at your home and cherish your lal batti status. If you fail to perform your lal battis would be withdrawn immediately," Mulayam Singh said.
The ministers who attended the meeting said Mulayam has come full prepared and raised instances of ministers mis-behaving with people or the officials. "You are the mirror image of the Government. Your behaviour becomes talk of the town. Media is breathing down our neck so ensure you and your supporters’ behaviour is upto the mark," he said.
"Work efficiently and avoid any irregularities that could earn a bad name for the party as well as to the government," he said.Akhilesh Yadav also spoke on the occasion and asked ministers to come up with new ideas. "Campaign is being launched against us by opposition parties and a section of media. Do not enter into a dialogue with them. Do your work and let people know about our Government’s achievements," he said.
The party leadership has convened a meeting of the SP leaders who have been given minister status on virtue of being the chairman of the corporation, advisers of the CM or member in any other government institutions on January 31 to ask them to put their efforts to ensure victory of SP candidates in their respective constituencies.
