Amid the speculation that some of the members of Mukhtar Ansari’s family might join Samajwadi party there are reports that wife of the mafia don will contest next election on the ticket of Quami Ekta Dal.
Ansari’s wife Afsa Ansari is likely to contest from Ghosi in eastern Uttar Pradesh.Announcing this Quami Ekta Dal president and elder brother of Mukhtar, Afzal Ansari said that Mukhtar will contest from Varanasi lok Sabha seat.
Mukhtar had contested the last 2009 lS polls from Varanasi but lost to BJP heavyweight Dr Murli Manohar Joshi by a slender margin. In the 2012 assembly elections, the mafia don contested from two seats but manage to win from one.
Afzal Ansari said his party would contest eight seats out of the total 27 in the easternpart of the state in alliance with Ekta Manch. "The remaining seats, Ekta Manch and other like minded parties would contest," he said.
Afzal Ansari would contesting lS polls from Ballia while lalvrat Kol, an accused in Naxalite attack, would be the Quami Ekta Dal candidate from Robertsganj seat.
