Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav visited Ram Manohar lohia Institute of Medical Sciences on Wednesday to enquire about the health of renowned Hindi poet and Bollywood lyricist Gopaldas Neeraj. The poet is undergoing treatment for a chest infection since Saturday. Doctors attending on him said that he was recovering.
Chairman of the Bhasha Sansthan Neeraj (93) has been known for his master writings and penned several lyrics for Bollywood songs.
Born in Etawah, the poet has been a centre of attraction in kavi sammelans and other literary gatherings. “He has been ill for quite some time but his will power keeps him going. We are sure he will recover soon and be sent back home,” said his family members.
