In a clear indication of his preference for his Chief Minister son Akhilesh Yadav, Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav said that his party will never grow old and it will remain a young party.
Without taking names, Mulayam Singh Yadav garbering votes for his brother Shivpal Yadav in Takhaa block of Jaswant Nagar Assembly segment on Saturday, sought public support claiming that the Samajwadi Party will be voted back to power. Shivpal Yadav is locked in a bitter power struggle with his nephew Akhilesh Yadav.
“Samawjadi Party has always promoted young leaders. This party can never grow old. Only the SP has the ability and competence to address aspirations of the youth and create job opportunities for them,’’ said Yadav while addressing the conbgregation at Takhaa block on Saturday.
“I have come to my `karmbhoomi’ to seek support for Shivpal Yadav. I am very happy to be here, I won previous elections from this constituency under different circumstances. My party always fulfilled the promises it made during the elections and we will always help people who need support. Not only Shivpal Yadav but ensure the victory of all party candidates in Etawah and neighbouring districts,‘’ said Mulayam Singh.
The SP founder said, “I am addressing public meeting after a long gap. Its my wish that Samajwadi Party be voted back to power in UP.’’
The SP leader said that no party could match the performance of Samajwadi Party in agriculture sector as it did for farmers whatever was possible including waiver of loans and free irrigation. “let me tell you that the party would do more for the farmers if voted back to power,” he said.
Mulayam Singh said unemployment among the youth was a big challenge and if the SP was voted back to power then the government will work for creating job oppurtunities for the youth.
For the first time in the 50 year electoral history of Jaswant Nagar segment, Shivpal Yadav is facing challenge from the BJP and is visiting each village and meeting individuals seeking their support. Jaswantnagar goes to polls in the third phase on February 19.
Jaswant Nagar has been a traditional seat of the Yadav clan and Mulayam Singh Yadav won from this seat in 1966 and lost only once in 1980. Since 1996, Shivpal Yadav has won in every Assembly election from this seat.
