He said no prime minister in last over 50 years had been able to get the land back from China.
"Pandit Nehru did not live long after the 1962 debacle, it was not any ailment but he died out of the shock he suffered from Indo- China war," said Mulayam in Saifai on Saturday while inaugurating the Central medicine supply depot building in UP Rural Institute of Post-Graduate Medical Sciences. He said the brave India army fought the Chinese aggression almost unarmed.
"I as the Defence Minister in United front government in 1996 started the practice of the sending the bodies of the fallen soldiers to their native villages, earlier this was not the practice," said Mulayam Singh Yadav adding, "e should also have some concern for the nation, I express my opinion in Parliament and the treasury benches listen to it with rapt attention and members of other parties also participate but the common people should also come forward."
In a trip down the memory lane, Mulayam Singh Yadav said, "Once a sleepy village, Saifiai has now developed into a big town with skyscrapers dotting the skyline of the city. When it was a village it was full of dusty lanes and bylanes and I used to come out of the village in my undergarments and used to wear clothes when out of the village and local people used to taunt me that 'Tinopal wale aa gaye'."
Narrating the difficulties he faced in early days in life Mulayam Singh Yadav said `` he went to school got educated on his own volition there was no pressure to go to schools and later to go for higher studies’’. He added `` I am referring to the old days to remind you that we should never forget the past, all of you are doctors and people have faith on you and you should never have arrogance that you are saving their lives’’.
SP chief said `` I am happy to see that the Saifai rural institute of medical sciences in last ten years has made steady progress and is counted among the premier medical education institutes of India and I hope that the graduates of this institute will bring name and fame to this institution’’.
