With Union Government facing barbs over its Kashmir policy Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh churned out figures to claim that more terrorists have been killed during Modi regime than last UPA government and also clarified that government has not declared any ceasefire in Valley, it was just “suspension of operations during the holy month of Ramzan”.
“The number of terrorists killed during last four years of UPA regime was 471 but in the NDA regime ultras killed in the first four years is 619 besides there is decline in attempt of infiltration by 85 per cent. More stringent measures have been adopted on the international borders to stop infiltration by installation of radars, sensors and flood lights,” Union Home minister said while addressing reporters here on the completion of four years of the NDA government on Tuesday. He categorically denied that there was ceasefire in Kashmir. “There is a suspension of operation in view of Ramzan. Security forces are ready to give befitting reply to any attack. We have not tied the hands of our security. Recently, the security forces have gunned down 5 terrorists,” he said. The Home Minister also clarified that government is ready to talk with anyone but “it should be in a conducive atmosphere.”
Singh said that the government has done tremendous work to strengthen internal security in Kashmir, in north-east and curved naxalism. “In North East Armed Forces Special Power Act ( AFSPA) has been withdrawn fully from Meghalaya and Tripura while partially from Arunachal Pradesh. The success rate of controlling insurgency is 85 per cent while casualty of security personnel and civilians has come down by 97 per cent in last four years,” he said. He said naxalism has also been curbed. The number of naxal affected v districts have come down to 58 in 2018 from 76 in 2013. During last four years of the UPA regime the total naxalite incidents were 20,428 which has come down to 1081 in the first four years of the NDA regimes. Similarly the number of arson in UPA regime was 6524 which is 4136 in NDA regime. Highlighting the achievements of Modi government he said that country has emerged as growth factory in these years with investors even ready to invest in India. “The Centre for Economic and Business Research, an economic rating company, has said that India would be among the five top countries in 2018-19 and it will be in three top nations in next three years,” he said adding that India has turned into a favorite destination for the world investors during the past four years as a record 156 million dollar investment has been made in this period.
Elaborating on the infrastructure development during NDA regime, the lucknow MP said that the total investment in the infrastructure sector would be around 4 to 5 trillion dollars by 2040. “ The rural connectivity with road was just 56 per cent when NDA came to power but now it was 82 per cent . During UPA, 12 kilometer of road was constructed daily but now it has gone up to 27 kms,” he claimed. While talking about rising price of US dollar and rising in the crude oil prices, Singh said that the Central government was minutely observing the situation and efforts would be made to control the prices of petroleum products. “There is no such crisis on crude oil prices as India has already have 400 million dollar as foreign reserve while the current account deficit is now in surplus and fiscal deficit in control,” he said.
