Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Varanasi on September 23, where he will gift 18 Atal residential schools to the people of the state.

The inauguration ceremony will take place in the Rohaniya area, and it will be followed by a mega rally which will be addressed by Modi. To ensure widespread participation, students, teachers, and parents of the schools will connect virtually to witness the event.

During his visit, Prime Minister Modi may lay the foundation stone of Purvanchal’s first international cricket stadium to be constructed in Ganjari. The prime minister will also give away prizes to the winners of Kashi Cultural Festival which will now conclude on September 22.

This will be Prime Minister Modi’s 42nd visit to Varanasi ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party have already started preparations for the inauguration ceremony and public meeting.

The highlight of Prime Minister Modi’s visit will be the inauguration of the Atal Residential School in Varanasi. A total of 80 students, including 40 boys and 40 girls, have been admitted to this school. The school caters to the children of labourers as well as orphaned children who lost their parents during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The school’s principal has already been appointed and classes are scheduled to commence on September 10. The Prime Minister’s Office has granted consent for this ambitious project of the Labour department, aligning it with Prime Minister Modi’s visit on September 23.

The construction of the Atal Residential School on 12 acres in Karsada has been completed at a cost of Rs 66.54 crore. It offers various facilities, including hostel accommodations. The school will provide free education up to class 12, with residential arrangements available for students from classes six to eight.

“In light of Prime Minister Modi’s visit, the Kashi Cultural Festival, originally scheduled to conclude on September 24, will now conclude on September 22. During the event, the prime minister will personally honour the festival’s winners from the stage,” UP’s Labour and Employment Minister Anil Rajbhar said.

On Friday, Rajbhar made an inspection of the helipad, the meeting venue and the Atal Residential School in Karsada. He emphasised the importance of Atal Residential School becoming a model institution for the state.
