After much struggle the Bharatiya Janata Party has identified the rally ground where party’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi would address Vijay
Shankhanaad Rally in Varanasi on December 20. The rally would now be held at Khajuri in Raj talab, which is 8 km from Varanasi.
This would be the fifth of the series of nine rallies to be addressed by Modi. He had earlier held rallies in Kanpur, Bahraich, Jhansi and Agra.
"It is now official that Modi’s rally would be held in Khajuri. This is a big ground that could accommodate over 5 lakh people who are expected to attend this rally," BJP’s spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak said here on Thursday.
There was much confusion about Varanasi rally as party leaders were not able to identify the rally ground. Usually rallies in Varanasi are held in Benia Bagh but BJP leaders ruled it out because it was a small ground and secondly it being inside city limit the life of common people would have been thrown out of gear.
The party had earlier decided to hold rally at Bababtpur but the idea was dropped because of security reason. "This is important rally for us therefore we do not want to take any chances therefore it took so long to identify the rally ground," Pathak said.
This rally, first in eastern Uttar Pradesh, would cater to 12 districts including that of Varanasi, Chandauli, Ghazipur, Sonebhadra, Mirzapur, Allahabad, Kaushambhi, Bhadohi, Pratapgarh, Jaunpur, Sultanpur and Amethi. Workers from 14 lok Sabha and 68 assembly segments are expected to take part in the rally.
"This would be the biggest rally of Modi. Varanasi rally will break all previous records. Over 5 lakh people are expected to take part in this rally," BJP state president lakshmi Kant Bajpai said.
