Hitting out at Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, Samajwadi Party state president Akhilesh Yadav said the Gujarat Chief Minister did not have the guts to accept the mistakes he had committed and tender apology to the people for his sin.
“A person like Modi cannot seek apology for his misdeeds during the Gujarat riots as he is a person of small heart,” SP state president and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said while addressing an election rally in Kannauj on Thursday.Akhilesh Yadav was in Kannauj to canvass for his wife, Dimple Yadav, who is contesting the seat as SP candidate.
Talking to reporters after addressing an election meeting to seek support for Dimple, Akhilesh said the people of the country would never forgive Modi for “massacring” innocent people in Gujarat.“Modi cannot fool the people of the country by his fake speeches as there is no such thing as a Modi wave in the country,” he said. When his attention was drawn to Modi’s refusal to tender apology for the Gujarat riots, Yadav said, “How can a person with a small heart do thisIJ”
Yadav also accused the BJP of triggering riots in Muzaffarnagar and claimed that the Samajwadi Party Government had controlled the situation immediately.“The BJP also tried its best to communalise the election,” he added.Yadav reiterated that a third front government would come to power at the Centre after the polls and the Samajwadi Party would be its largest party.
The SP state chief said there was no Gujarat model and it was just a creation of media and cautioned people not to fall for it. “Uttar Pradesh has done much more than what Gujarat has done in the last 10 years. Our work will speak in our favour. The last two years have seen all-round development of the state. Pro-poor policies have been implemented by the SP Government and their effects are visible now,” he said.
Addressing the meeting, Dimple Yadav said that she would strive to promote  harmony among people of all castes and religions. “New development avenues would be opened for the people. Vote for Samajwadi Party so that a third front forms government at the Centre,” she said.
