Modi Govt. failed to bring ' Acche din' : Mayawati

Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for doing politics on the name of Sant Kabir Das, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati said that Union Government was trying to divert the attention of the people after it failed to bring ‘ Acche din’ for them which BJP leaders had promised during election campaigns.  “When the lok Sabha election is round the corner Prime Minister has suddenly started remembering saint Kabir Das. This shows that the BJP is trying to take political mileage. PM accused opposition of creating instability in the country but can he reply whether his speech in Maghar was not politically motivated,” she questioned.

Reacting to the politically loaded speech of Prime Minister, the BSP chief said that when BJP government has failed on all fronts it has now started misusing the name of Kabir and other renowned personalities. This is done not just as a reverence for these saints but is done to cover up its lapses,” she said in a written statement issued here on Thursday. Mayawati said that PM had publicized in a big way about the setting up of Kabir Academy in Maghar but he did not elaborate as what purpose will it serve to the people.” Will the academy solve the problem and miseries of the people of eastern UP, which is one of the most backward regions of the state.  It seems it is is just a lollypop for the people,” she said. Claiming that BSP has taken many steps to propagate the teachings of Saint Kabir when BSP was in power, the former UP chief minister said that it was the BSP government in the past which named it as Sant Kabir Nagar district. “So, what Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that no previous government did anything for the region is wrong.  Yes, no government used Sant Kabir to gain political mileage which BJP is trying to dom” the BSP national president said.
