Modi govt done drama on yoga day: BSP

Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) supremo Mayawati alleged that the Narendra Modi government at the Centre did a ‘ drama’ on the International Day for Yoga, in order to divert the attention of the people from the miseries they are facing.

“When the Central government should be concern on the poverty, unemployment, illiteracy and backwardness for which the people are facing severe problems, but Modi was just interested in creating record on the Yoga day,” she said in a statement issued here on Monday. “ The Yoga day was organised just to divert the attention of the people from the present problem of the people and the failures of the BJP government at the Centre,” she claimed.

The BSP president was very critical on the part of the Central government in dragging the vice-president and the Rajya Sabha TV in controversy in the Yoga function.” The Vice- president office was forced to issue a statement that Hamid Ansari was not invited for the Yoga programme therefore he did not go while Rajya Sabha TV said that they had telecast the programme live,” she said.

Mayawati alleged that the BJP government tried to give a communal colour to this Yoga programme.

Meanwhile, BSP supremo has also strongly condemned the act of the Samajwadi Party government for steep hike in power tariff from next month. “The act of the State government is condemnable and they should immediately withdraw the hike which would certainly affect the common people particularly the domestic consumer, whose tariff would be hiked by 17  per cent ,” she said.

Mayawati, who is also four time chief minister of UP, said that on one hand the state government has failed to provide adequate power to the people and on the other hand they are increasing the tariff. She claimed that hike in the power tariff proves the failure of the State government and it is totally an anti-government act.

The BSP leader further said that after the SP government came to power in 2012 they promised to provide 20 hours electricity to the rural areas and 22 hours to the urban areas within 2-years time. But now even after three and a half year regime, they have failed to keep up their promises.  She alleged that the state government has already failed in the law and order field and all the developmental works was stalled. She claimed that now the hike in the power tariff would put extra burden on the people of the state. It may be mentioned that UP state Power Regularity Commission in the last week has announced hike in the power tariff from July next.
