Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Friday called upon people to vote for stability at the Centre.Addressing a rally on Swarn Jayanti Vihar grounds at Koela Nagar in the Akbarpur lok Sabha constituency on Friday, Modi said the country needed a government which could take concrete decisions and had a progressive vision.
“This is not possible unless there is a stable government,” he said and exhorted people to make BJP victorious on at least 300 lok Sabha seats. While pointing out that polling in earlier phases of the election had made it clear that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance would form the next Government at the Centre, Modi appealed to the people to give it absolute majority.
Hitting out at the United Progressive Alliance in his 15-minute speech, Modi said the country was being governed through remote control by people outside the Government. Modi said the 10-year rule of the UPA was full of misdeeds and the Central Government hardly showed any concern for the country’s youths, farmers and poor families. He said that while taking over the reins of the country in 2002, the UPA had promised to control inflation within 100 days, provide employment to 10 crore youth and much more. “But all that the UPA gave was inflation and grafts,” Modi said, pointing in particular to the scam in the allotment of coal blocks.
He added that the Income Tax Department had revealed the involvement of four Union ministers in a hawala racket in connivance with a big meat exporter. Modi pointed out there were records of 350-hour-long talks between those ministers and the meat exporter, and demanded that the names of the ministers be disclosed to the countrymen as their act had affected the sovereignty of the nation.
Exhorting people to exercise their franchise carefully to change the country’s fortune, Modi appealed to the people to ensure the victories of party candidates Devendra Singh Bhole from Akbarpur and Murli Manohar Joshi from Kanpur lok Sabha constituencies to strengthen the hands of the BJP.Besides the BJP candidate from Akbarpur, party leaders Satish Mahana, Salil Vishnoi, Raghunandan Bhadauria (MlAs), Bal Chand Misra (former MlA), Surendra Maithani (BJP city president) and Neeraj Chaturvedi (rally incharge) were also present.
Earlier in the day, the BJP prime ministerial candidate launched a stinging attack on Mulayam Singh Yadav, saying that the Samajwadi Party chief was soft on rapists. Addressing a rally in Yadav’s home town Etawah, the Modi said that at a time when there was need to be tough on rapists, ‘Netaji’ was showing a soft corner for those who commit such heinous crimes.
Coming down heavily on the SP chief, the BJP strongman raked up the Muzaffarnagar riots issue, saying that Netaji should have been soft towards the people living in relief camps, but he was not, and now he was displaying a soft attitude towards rapists. The BJP leader also hit out at Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati and UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav. He mocked at the BSP chief for developing parks with elephant statues and Akhilesh Yadav for concentrating on only lion safaris.Modi said both SP and BSP were not concerned about the people of Uttar Pradesh.
He accused the SP Government of failing to maintain law and order situation in the state. Urging people to vote for the BJP, Modi said, “If you want a better life then change the Government in Delhi now and then in lucknow.”
