The war of words between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi escalated after Modi mocked the Congress leader for levelling corruption charges against him. In reply, Rahul asked the PM to reply directly as the youths of the country wanted to know the truth.
“Aap mera jitna mazak udana chahte ho udaao, par desh ke yuvaaon ke sawalon ka jawab do (You can make mockery of me as many times as you can but you should reply to the questions of corruption leveled against you as youth of the country wants to know it),” Rahul said attacking Modi at a Jan Akrosh rally in Bahraich on Thursday.
Rahul said that that it was unfortunate that the PM did not give any reply to his charges but instead preferred to mock at the questions asked by him.
Waving sheets of paper purportedly containing details of Modi having allegedly accepting money from Sahara and Birla groups as Gujarat Chief Minister, the Congress poster boy asked the PM to come cleasr on whether the documents were correct or not.
Sticking to his guns, Rahul alleged that Modi as Gujarat CM had taken Rs 40 crore from Sahara group in nine instalments spread over six months in 2013 and 2014. Reading out famous lines of Ghalib to attack the PM, Rahul said, “Har ek baat pe kehte ho ke tu kya hai, tumhi kaho ke yeh andaaz-e-guftagu kya hai.”
The Congress vice–president further asked,”How many black money holders have been put in jail by you Modiji IJ Not even one. You instead made Modi (lalit) and Mallya escape.” Attacking the cashless issue raised by the PM, Rahul said, “When Modi’s speech through his mobile phone could not be heard clearly in Bahraich on December 11, then how can one expect that money would be transferred through these mobile phones so easily.”
During his speech, the Congress leader even asked the people to say whether the BJP government had put any black money horders in jail or anyone who had got Rs 15 lakhs in his account as promised by the PM.
“Those who are standing on the queues do not have any black-money. In fact, those suited-booted people who frequently fly with the PM are the stockists of black money,” he said ridiculing Modi’s statement that those having black money were standing in the queues. “Such statement is nonsense as only the honest people were standing in queues,” he said.
Taking a dig on Modi and claiming that senior leader from Gujarat Vaghela had told him that Modi was a super event planner and he knows how to do any work in a grand manner, Rajul said, “I too agree Modiji is a ‘super event planner’. He made a ‘perfect planning’ to take money from the poor to help the rich who owe as much as Rs 8 lakh crore to the banks.”
Rahul insisted that the PM came out with the surprise decision of demonetisation not to help the poor but the ‘super rich 50 families of India’.
Earlier, the Congress leader took to Twitter to attack the PM and keyed in Hindi, ‘Modiji first tell us what was contained in the ten packets from Sahara’. Along with the Tweet, a Income Tax document of nine entries from October 2013 to February 14 labelled ‘cash payments made to Modiji’, was posted.
His comments came soon after the PM ridiculed Rahul’s remarks of creating tremors with accusations of corruption, at a function in BHU, Varanasi.
Modi had said that he was happy that the Congress leader has
‘learnt’ to speak as by doing so he was unwittingly admitting the failures of his party.
