Mistri charged SP govt by denying benefits under FSA

Congress General secretary and in-charge of Uttar Pradesh Madhusudan Mistri  charged the Samajwadi Party government with ignoring the need of 150 million people by denying them benefits under the Food Security Act.

‘’The announcement of the UP government that they would not be able to implement the Food Security Act in the state till July 2014 is totally a political decision just to deny the people of its benefit,’’ he told a press conference here on Wednesday. Mistri, who held a meeting with the Congress district and city presidents at the state party office, said the entire issue for not implementing the Food Security Act was politically motivated to deny the Congress the benefit.

He said the reason given by the UP government is also childish as they claimed that without getting transportation cost they would be unable to implement the Act benefiting 150 million people of the state. ‘’The decision of the Akhilesh Yadav government is anti-poor and they will have to suffer for it in the coming elections,’’ he added. ‘’UP government would get enough funds through this Act.

While from the past PDS, UP was getting a subsidy of Rs 10.195 crore annually from the Centre but after the Food Security Act it has now increased to Rs 19,324 crore,a hike of Rs 9129 crore,’’ he said.

Talking about the BJP’s charges against the Congress of misusing the CBI to nail down  Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and his close aide Amit Shah, the Congress General Secretary Mistri, also hailing from Gujarat, said the BJP leaders particularly the Gujarat Chief Minister and a former Home Minister were guilty conscious and were afraid about the misdeeds.

Reacting sharply on the allegations that Centre was  misusing the CBI, Mistri said the CBI order against the Gujarati leaders over the fake encounters were done by the Supreme Court and the High Court and the Centre has nothing to do with it.’’If they have any problems then they should ask the SC or the HC to stop the CBI probe,’’ he suggested.  He, however, blamed the BJP for trying to create communal disturbances in the country particularly in UP for polarizing the lok Sabha elections. ‘’The riots that hit Muzaffarnagar, has now been spread out to Meerut and other places by the BJP leaders,’’ he alleged.
