Mission Vatsalya transforming children’s lives with counseling

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Women and Child Development Department has undertaken groundbreaking initiatives for children’s protection, rehabilitation and empowerment.

Through Mission Vatsalya, efforts are being made to ensure a secure and promising future for children across Uttar Pradesh, supported by 132 state institutions and specialised services. Psychosocial counseling has also been introduced to provide children better guidance and emotional support.

In the financial year 2024-25, 128 children found new homes and brighter futures through adoption under Mission Vatsalya, fostering a culture of adoption and providing children with the stability of a loving family.

The sponsorship and foster care programmes have further enhanced children’s lives, benefiting 10,659 children under the sponsorship scheme and 11 under foster care. These measures are equipping children to become self-reliant and confident contributors to society.

The state has also taken a firm stance against child marriage, preventing over 200 potential cases this year through proactive efforts by the state level monitoring committee and district task force.

New rules are being drafted to strengthen Child Marriage Act enforcement, secure daughters’ futures, and spread societal awareness.

Psychosocial counselors have been appointed in collaboration with the Health Department to address children’s mental and emotional well-being in government homes. These professionals are helping children overcome challenges, set life goals and develop self-reliance.

Under Mission Vatsalya, modern technology, skill development and employment-focused initiatives provide children with the tools they need to build successful futures, underscoring the government’s unwavering commitment to their welfare.
