Missing since last Saturday, a 40-year-old woman was found dead in the bushes near VVIP Society Colony in Sihanigate police station area of Ghazibad late on Tuesday night.
Surprisingly, the cops who did not even register a case in this connection went overboard and arrested two persons on the basis of suspicion expressed by the victim's kin and sent them to jail on Wednesday.
Circumstantial evidences suggested that the victim was gang raped on the fateful day and was later murdered by the assailants who dumped her body in the bushes to conceal the crime.
As per reports, Vineeta (name changed) of Bhogapur area of Moradnagar (Ghaziabad) left for her workplace at Sector 6 in Rajnagar area of the district early Saturday morning. But she never reached her office and went missing. When she did not returned home till late in the night, her family members enquired from her colleagues and tried to contact the victim on her phone. Failing to get any details or response, the family members contacted the local police. However, the cops refused to register any case and asked the family members to search the victim on their own.
The matter took a turn late on Tuesday night when a native of VVIP Society Colony noticed bad odour emenating from the bushes and later discovered the mutilated body of a woman. He informed the local police after which the Vineeta's family members were called. They identified the victim after which the cops registered a case.
When asked about any suspects, the family apprehended the involvement of Rasheed aka Munna and Arman from Chawada locality of Cooch Behar (West Bengal) who used to work in the same locality in Ghaziabad. The police later arrested both and sent to jail on Wednesday. The body of the victim was sent for post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, two more killings were reported from Bijnore and Muzaffarnagar since Tuesday night.
In Bijnore, the body of an unknown youth was found lying by the roadside at Raja Ka Tajpur locality of Noorpur on Tuesdaynight. The victim was later identified as Feroz (24) of Fatullahaganj locality of Thakurdwara (Moradabad). The family members disclosed that Feroz drove his taxi (UP21BB-0703) after being booked from Moradabad bus stand to Noorpur in Bijnore. As the vehicle was missing, the family suspected that the passengers might have killed Feroz and later looted the vehicle after dumping his body on the road side. A case was registered and a hunt was launched for the passengers.
Elsewhere in Muzaffarnagar, Shakir (45) was beaten to
death by the family of a girl, whoi had eloped with the victim's son earlier this month.
As per reports, Shakir was abducted and killed in Rasul village of Muzaffarnagar and his body was recovered on Tuesdaynight. The victim's family claimed that Shakir's son Abdul fell in love with Riyasat's daughter and eloped with her on July 3. To avenge the 'insult', Riyasat and his kin killed Shakir.
A case was registered against six persons, including the girl's father, for kidnapping and murder. A search is on for the accused who absconded after the killing. Security has been tightened in the village to avert any further clash.
