Mishra rejects petition filed by social activist Nutan Thakur

Published on:

lokayukta Justice (retired) Sanjay Mishra rejected a petition filed by social activist Nutan Thakur against Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Home, Debashish Panda and other officers of the Home department.

Thakur, who met Mishra in this regard on Friday, said that Mishra turned down her complaint calling it beyond his jurisdiction as stated in section 8(1)(b)(i) (ii) of the UP lokayukta Act.

She claimed to have told the lokayukta that  Section  8(1)(b)(i) (ii) is applicable to complaint of ‘grievance’ filed by affected parties and not to ‘allegation’ and hence the lokayukta should probe the complaint. She claimed that Mishra assured her to look into her request.

Earlier Dr Thakur while filing her complaint against Ranjan, Panda and other Home department officers had alleged that they (officers) prepared forged documents related to her husband and IPS officer Amitabh Thakur‘s suspension due to political considerations to harass him.

The complaint presents in details how the officers prepared false documents without actually holding any meeting of the Civil Service Board on December 11, 2015 and February 12, 2016 thereby extending Amitabh Thakur's suspension twice.

Presenting definite evidences in support of the allegations, Dr Thakur requested the lokayukta to summon the concerned files of Home department and DGP office and recommend action against these officers after an investigation.

When contacted, the officials at lokayukta office refused to speak over the above issue.
