A minor girl was gang raped and murdered under mysterious circumstances in Gorakhpur. local police had sent the body for post-mortem examination and had also detained four youths for interrogation.
Reports said that the cops of Shahjanwa police station in Gorakhpur, learnt through villagers that body of a 16-year-old girl was lying inside her home on Monday morning. The cops rushed and claimed that circumstantial evidences suggested that the victim was gang raped and later murdered some time in the night. They disclosed that father of the girl was mentally retarded so he is unable to disclose anything. They also said that the mother of the victim had went to some relatives home just on Sunday night and not returned home so it seems that some local goons took advantage of the situation and committed the crime. They said to have picked up four youths whose movements were traced in the area. Further investigations are on in the matter.
Meanwhile tension prevailed in Deoria after local police resorted to lathi charge on the Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha members when they tried to forcefully remove a Sai idol from Deorahi temple, on Monday morning. About half a dozen activists were injured in the process while the district president of the Hindu Mahasabha Indresh Majethiya has been detained by the police.
Sub- Divisional Magistrate(SDM), Brijesh Choudhury, who led police force, claimed that around 50 activists of the Hindu Mahasabha tried to remove the Sai idol in support of Shankaracharya’s directive. He said police immediately rushed to the spot under Kotwali police station and prevented the activists in their nefarious act to remove an one feet idol. Police had to use mild force against the activists in which some received minor injury, he said. Choudhury said that police has been deployed at the temple to prevent re-occurrence of such incident in future.
