A minor girl was gang-raped and later on murdered in a sensational incident reported from Kansganj on Mondaymorning.
local police which rushed to the spot claimed to have sent the body for post-mortem examination and were making efforts to identify the accused. They claimed that circumstantial evidences pointed that criminals were known to the girl hence in fear of being identified, they killed the victim after raping her.
Reports said that 14-year-old Kajal (name changed), a native of Jyotsana hamlet of Pahyali in Kansganj, had gone to attend call of nature on Sunday evening. When she not returned till the night, her family members launched a search and also reported the matter to the local police. However, the cops refused to take cognizance of the matter. Claiming that girl might eloped with someone, the cops also asked the family members to search the victim on their own.
Reports further said that on early Monday morning, some villagers found the body of the girl lying inside bushes behind godown of Bharat Gas Agency situated in the same area. The family members identified the victim as their missing daughter. The victim had several injury marks all over her body and also injuries in her private parts, pointing that she was sexually assaulted even after she resisted the move and later she was brutally murdered. The circumstantial evidences also showed that the killers were more than one. local police claimed to be making efforts to work out the case.
Meanwhile in another case reported from Gonda, a 15-year-old girl allegedly immolated herself after being ‘harassed’ by her teacher. According to reports, Neha (name changed), student of a private intermediate college, was under depression and allegedly set herself afire on Friday after which she was admitted to a hospital where she died on Saturday night. later a suicide note was recovered from the girl’s bag in which she had accused her teachers - Deepak Kumar, Aftab Ahmad and Rashmi Kapur - for forcing her to take the extreme step.
Reports said that on the basis of recovery of suicide note, the victim’s father lodged an FIR against the three teachers on Sunday night.
In the complaint, it has been alleged that Deepak Kumar teased the girl about which a grievance was lodged with the college authorities, but no action was taken. later when the teacher after learning of the complaint, had further threatened the girl of dire consequences, she went in depression and finally committed suicide.
Some social organisations along with local residents, who were agitated with the incident had also taken out candle march demanding arrest of the accused. Some protesters, also vandalised the college premises and assaulted the accused teachers. District Inspector of Schools in Gonda, V K Dubey said that upon the directive of the district magistrate, all schools and colleges have been closed till October 13 to avoid any untoward incident.
