Urban Development Minister Azam Khan said that Ram Janmabhoomi was a dead issue for him because a temple already exists at the site where prayers are being offered regularly with Government support.
“The Ram Temple is no issue. There is an attempt by some vested interest to keep the communal issue alive therefore they talk about construction of Ram Temple or resolving of this issue. For me, it is no longer an issue,” Khan told reporters here on Friday.
He was reacting to the statement of Governor Ram Naik where he said that Ram Janmabhoomi issue would be resolved in next five years.
“Governor sahib is above this mandir-masjid issue. As far as I think he should not talk about this issue in the public,” Khan said.
The Urban Development Minister who is also the Muslim mascot of the Samajwadi Party said that a Temple came into existence there on December 6, 1992. Since then prayers are being offered regularly there.
Reacting to the protest of BJP in Vidhan Sabha he said the BJP wants to finish democracy inside and outside the House and therefore they disrupted proceedings in the state assembly.
“BJP is trying to divert the attention of the people by promoting ‘Jhadu’. People have rejected the BJP in the Assembly by polls and now by stalling the Assembly proceedings they were trying to get media coverage.
“The BJP was vitiating communal harmony by spreading communal hatred. This party is a big threat to the country’s unity, integrity and democracy,” he said.
