Uttar Pradesh Energy Minister Shrikant Sharma has directed the UP Power Corporation Limited to cut down the transmission and distribution losses. He has fixed a target to reduce the line losses to 15 per cent in 60 feeders in every district every month.
The minister, while reviewing the performance of the UPPCL here on Wednesday, said that every district had been directed to bring down the loss of at least 60 feeders below15 per cent. Of these identified 60 feeders, half will be given to the discom officials and half to the power vigilance department to monitor them.
Sharma said the government had already announced that those feeders which had less than 15 per cent line loss would be eligible for 24-hour uninterrupted electricity supply.
The people’s representatives, including parliamentarians, legislators, gram pradhans and others have been asked to join the campaign to make their area feeder’s line loss below 15 per cent, he added.
The minister appealed to the MPs and MLAs to adopt at least 10 feeders with highest losses in their respective constituencies.
The minister said that a programme had been chalked out by the Energy department authorities for next 90 days to identify the highest line loss feeders in each district and decide on the strategy to minimise the line loss to 15 per cent.
