Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s initiative to attract investment got a big boost as eight mega companies have promised to invest over Rs 7500 crore in next five years that in turn will generate over 22,000 jobs. Yadav gave letter of Comfort (loC) to eight industrial projects in a function held at 5, Kalidas Marg, here on Friday.

The industrial units that got loC are: M/s Samsung India Electronic Pvt ltd, Noida, M/S Reliance Cement Co. Pvt ltd, Rae Bareli, Aligarh and Rosa ( Shahjahanpur),  M/S Shree Cement ltd, Bulandshahr, M/S Indo Gulf Fertilisers, Jagdishpur (Amethi), M/S Paswara Papers ltd, Meerut, M/S K K Milk Fresh India ltd, Kanpur Dehat, M/S Gallantt Ispat ltd, Gorakhpur and  M/S Vacmet India ltd, Mathura.

“Our government initiated a plan to attract investment from day one when it came to power. We made new industrial policy in 2012 and today we have reached a position to give loC to these mega companies. This is a beginning. More investments are expected soon,” Yadav said while addressing the gathering.

He said these industries will make a further investment of Rs 7500 crore during the next five years and would generate an additional job for 22,000 people. “The government has also given an incentive of around Rs 5000 crore to these nine units.” Chief Minister said..

Talking about the industrial development of the state he said that “Made in India” would be a success only if “Make in UP” is promoted. “Samsung India is the big example of Made in UP as almost all the mobile phones used in the country are from its Noida based company,” he said and added: “UP is a big market and the way Government has improved infrastructure facilities many more industries will come in UP soon.”.

He said UP has attracted an investment of Rs 20,000 crore during the past three years since new Industrial policy 2012 was introduced. “We have a target to achieve 10 per cent growth rate on industrial development,” he said.

CM also announced that under the Kamdhenu dairy scheme now the minimum animal under the scheme would be 10 from the existing 25. This will give a boost to the dairy industry,” he said.

On this occasion the CM criticised the Centre for delaying the approval from the Public Investment Board (PIB) for the lucknow Metro. “lucknow is the constituency of Union Home Minister and the Centre always say that it is cooperating with UP. But the real situation is like that it is putting hurdle for construction of lucknow Metro,” he said.

Taking a dig at opposition parties Yadav said that everyone criticised Samajwadi Party government for distribution of laptops. “Now, Centre was giving laptop to elderly persons under Digital India programme whereas we have given this to the youth who are the future of the country,” the CM said.

He also lambasted the media for making hue and cry over the irregularities in the recruitment drives in the state and even in law and order.

“UP will be the first state to launch Dial-100 when police would reach the crime spot within 15 minutes,” he said while adding that the government has made transparent recruitment of over 38,000 police constables, whose results were announced yesterday.

During the function, three toppers of the male and female category respectively in the police constable recruitment drive were also present and they met the CM along with their family members.
