MBMC and AMU communities appeals to Ansari

With elections Varanasi lok-Sabha constituency becoming interesting day by day, Aligarh based Muslim intellectual body, Millat Bedari Muhim Committee (MBMC) and Aligarh Muslim University community have appealed to Mukhtar Ansari to extend and declare his support to the Congress candidate Ajay Rai in national interest.

It may be recalled that Mukhtar Ansari had contested last parliamentary elections in 2009 and was defeated by senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi by just 17000 votes. In this election, Mukhtar Ansari was also a candidate in Varanasi but he withdrew his candidature to avoid the division of secular votes.Requesting support for Congress candidate in Varanasi against BJP PM Candidate, Narendra Modi, the MBMC has sent a letter to Mukhtar Ansari and appreciated his decision of withdrawing from contest. It was requested in the letter that Ansari should declare his support to Ajay Rai Congress candidate.

"Mukhtar Ansari has sacrificed his candidature in the national interest and now the political situation demands that he declare support to Congress candidate Ajai Rai to ensure defeat of Narendra Modi," said Secretary MBMC, Secretary of MBMC, Jasim Mohammad  while talking to the pressmen at Aligarh on Saturday. AMU Court Member, Prof. Razaullah Khan, AMU Executive Member Dr Mohammad Shahid, AMU Court Member and Former AMU Teachers Association President Prof. Humayun Murad, Former Chairman Department of History, AMU Prof Shahabuddin Iraqi and Director, Centre for Muslim Politics Studies, Jasim Mohammad had signed the letter sent to Ansari.
