Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati said here on Sunday that crushing defeat of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), student’s organisation affiliated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in elections to the students unions of the universities across the country is a welcome sign promising political change in the country.
In a statement Mayawati said that defeat of ABVP in universities elections is like glowing tribute to dalit scholar Rohit Vemula, a student of the Osmania University Hyderabad. She said the sacrifice of Rohit is now making the change. Mayawati said that BJP leaders have enough of good days by making false promises and misleading the people. The people now have seen through their game and bad days are ahead for the BJP.
Targeting BJP governments at centre and states Mayawati said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP governments in states have shown scant regard for the most pressing issue like inflation, unemployment, illiteracy and health which have affected the masses.
BSP president claimed that the Modi government and BJP governments in different states have singularly failed in the most basic task of providing employment to the youth and adding to the welfare of the common people. She said millions of posts reserved for the SC, OBCs in government departments are lying vacant and the BJP government in over a dozen states have made no efforts for recruitments against those posts, thus rendering the quota ineffective.
