Hiitting out at Bharatiya Janata Party former Chief Minister and Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati said the BJP leaders were wrongly projecting Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar as anti-Muslim just to lure dalits in their folds.
“The BJP is misleading Muslims by telling them that Dr Ambedkar disliked their community,” Mayawati said while addressing an election meeting in Gonda on Monday.
Infact, the truth was that the BJP was against the Bharat Ratna honour to the dalit leader, she stated. “It is the political stunt of the BJP to collect some core-Dalit votes,” the BSP supremo said.
The Muslims are safe owing to the efforts of Dr Ambedkar, she said and added that BJP has started a campaign to divide unity between dalits and Muslims. This is a well thought out strategy to wean away dalits from the BSP. “The BJP will not succeed in this nefarious design,” he said..
The BJP was unhappy with the recommendations of the Mandal commission and to counter the benefits of this scheme BJP started the Ram Janmabhoomi issue. They divided the community on religious lines just to get political advantage, she said.
Mayawati said that the BJP, the SP and the Congress had joined hands against the BSP during the 2012 UP Assembly polls. Addressing another rally in Balrampur, Mayawati asked the Muslims not to divide their votes and keep the communal BJP at bay. The country will witness the maximum riots, if BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi becomes the next Prime Minister.
