Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati ridiculed two of her former MlAs for joining the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), claiming that they were denied ticket some months back as they lacked popularity in their Assembly segments.
“Those who joined the BJP on Thursday are old timers of the Saffron brigade. The BSP is a party of workers and not leaders. Hence, no worker leaves the party with the leader,” she said in a statement issued in lucknow on Thursday.
“The BSP was not at all concerned with these turncoats as their leaving the outfit would hardly impact the party’s prospects,” she asserted.
The BSP president also claimed that around a dozen former BJP MlAs have already joined the BSP in recent past thereby showing the emerging picture.
On Thursday, six MlAs including three of Congress, two of BSP and one of SP joined the BJP here after four Muslim MlAs— three from Congress and one from SP, joined the BSP.
