Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati slammed the Congress and other opposition parties for going to Kashmir without permission and giving fodder canon to the Bharatiya Janata Party regime at the Centre and Jammu & Kashmir Governor to do politics.
Mayawati tweeted on Monday that the abrogation of Article 370 created an unprecedented situation in Kashmir and it would definitely take some time for the situation to normalise there.
“It is better to wait a bit, which is also considered by the Honourable Court,” she tweeted.
While hitting out at the Congress and other parties for trying go to Kashmir at this juncture, the BSP chief said, “They should think twice before giving an opportunity to the Centre and Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik to do politics over Kashmir, by trying to visit the region at this point in time.”
Explaining the reason behind her party’s decision to support the Centre in abrogating Article 370, Mayawati said that Dr BR Ambedkar was never in support of Article 370 as he always believed in unity of and equality in India.
“This is the sole reason why the BSP supported the government’s decision to revoke Article 370,” she said.
The BSP chief’s reaction came a day after a delegation of opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Anand Sharma, KC Venugopal, Sitaram Yechuri (CPI-M), D Raja (CPI), Manoj Jha (RJD), Kupendra Reddy (JDS), Majeed Memon (NCP), Tiruchi Siva (DMK), Sharad Yadav (LJD), and Dinesh Trivedi (TMC) flew to Srinagar to observe the situation in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday.
The opposition leaders were, however, denied permission to step out of Srinagar airport and were sent back to Delhi.
Meanwhile, Mayawati slammed the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh over law and order, saying that the state was witnessing “jungle raj of mob lynching”.
In a tweet, the former chief minister said that barring the BSP regime, all regimes in UP in the past have had the same track record on the law and order front.
“All previous governments as well as the present regime are alike, specially on the issue of law and order. Earlier, it was ‘jungle raj of halla bol’ and now it is ‘jungle raj’ of mob lynching. Also, all state and Central governments till date have misused probe agencies to suit their political interests, which is not hidden from anyone,” she tweeted.
