Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati questioned the intention of the BJP government in Haryana over reservation to the Jats after the High Court rejected the a petition in this regard.
"First the Congress and now the BJP have ditched the Jats. During the stir, the Haryana government had promised reservation to the community. But while moving court, the formalities were not completed leading to it being struck down by the Court which is condemnable" she said in a statemtn issued in lucknow on Friday.
Mayawati said that the state governments of Gujarat and Haryana could have given reservation to Jats and Patel /Patidar under the OBCs quota, if their intent was clear.
Raising the issue of non-implementation of reservation in promotions in UP, she demanded that the Centre should bring the Bill to ensure this.
Targeting the PM, Mayawati claimed that Modi's rally in Saharanpur to celebrate two years at the Centre was 'a total flop'.
"Modi tried to cover up the lapses of the NDA government and his speech had nothing new at the rally. Raising retirement age of doctors to 65 years was a publicity gimmick. It could have been done by a government order without attaching hype," the BSP chief said.
"The crowd was called from Haryana and Uttarakhand to fill the venue. Public money and government machinery were misused for the Saharanpur rally. The funds could have been spent on public welfare,'' she said.
The BSP chief said that the BJP has failed on all accounts be it generating employments or building infrastructure. "The BJP has rendered the principle of secularism meaningless and was brazenly promoting fanaticism and intolerance among people leading to growing attcaks on Muslims," she claimed.
