The BSP supremo Mayawati, on Sunday, called upon the Muslims to vote for her party to keep the BJP from forming next government at the centre. Addressing a well attended election rally at KP College Ground here, she said that the country may plunge into communal riots if Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister after the lok Sabha elections. She said that the BSP’s record was clean as no communal or caste tensions or riots took place during the four regimes of the party in UP.
There were core dalit votes totalling approximately 2.5 lakh in each of the 80 Parliamentary constituency in UP and if Muslims voted for BSP candidates, the BJP candidates will loose their deposits. The BJP was misguding the Muslims picturing Dr Ambedkar as an anti-Muslim which was false because if Dr Ambedkar were against the Muslims he would not give a secular Constitution to the country, she stated.
Warning the Dalits, Muslims and the backward castes that the BJP was misguiding all of them, she said that there were attempts to project a wave of BJP through the TV channels. Even the prominent astrologers in the country were bought to strengthen this wave. The Dalits were being approached by the BJP reminiding them that they were Hindus and they were secure with BJP. The BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Sri Narendra Modi was fooling the backwards by claiming that he himself belonged to them but he never told which caste he belonged to, Maywati said.
Playing the caste card to the hilt, she mentioned the Dalits, Muslims, backward castes and Brahmins as potential voters of the BSP and lured them assuring that their intersts were best served in the party. The maximum number of seats were given to the Brhamins by the BSP. While 21 Brahmins were given tickets, nineteen Muslims were also given tickets by the party, she said. Emphasising the need to stop the BJP and Congress from forming government at the centre, she hit at Samajwadi Party saying that the Muzaffar Nagar and Shamli riots have caused a great concern among the people of the state.
The BSP was only party that was untouched by the corporate power and hence it was under no obligation to serve their interests. While BJP and Congress having strong links with corporates were bound to serve their interests, the BSP was open to serve and work for the Sarvjan (all people) specially the Bahujan(the downtrodden and backwards). There was a need to strengthen the BSP to enable it to control the balance of power when the next government was formed at the centre after the elections, she said.
